In the plate reverb realm, their Talisman already pushed the boundaries of what a real EMT 140 could sound like. In that pedal, they expanded on the EMT 140’s impetus—a giant sheet of metal suspended in a frame with springs and clamps—by adding a handful of tasteful appointments designed to create controls where none previously existed.

The Talisman Ghost takes this concept even further, answering the question: what would happen if two EMT 140 plate units were configured to work in modulated tandem? The result is a luscious chorus-like effect applied only to the reverb trail. This ground-up reimagining carefully examines the diffusion characteristics of a real EMT 140, enhanced by the luxury of running a second 600-pound behemoth in parallel—an option that most studios did not have.

This tasteful modulation dramatically expands the spatial effect of the reverb by allowing two plates to interact in satisfying ways. The result is a slick post-process doubling effect that introduces a dynamic sense of movement to an otherwise static reverb decay.
